Adult Education
The Austin Area Urban League’s EOS/Workplace Literacy training program offers a variety of services from basic business skills to software training and concluding with job placement assistance and community resource referrals. The job readiness component of the EOS/Workplace Literacy training includes business math, business English, reading, spelling and vocabulary. The curriculum includes business communications essentials such as memoranda and business letter writing, verbal communication, reference material usage, as well as office technology sessions whereby students are exposed to electronic research, multi-line telephone, fax, copier, and postage machine utilization and filing. Coursework is supplemented by job readiness workshops conducted by professional guest lecturers [local employers re-emphasizing teaching strategies and expectations in the workplace necessary to succeed in the job market], selected business site visits, resume writing and mock interviews.
Essential Office Skills/Workplace Literacy

This program equips clients with the necessary skills to become gainfully employed and successfully prepares constituents for entrance into the workplace. The clients are trained in Microsoft Office 2007 products: Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Internet research, email set up, resume development, cover letter writing, workplace skills, and interview techniques. Job placement assistance is also provided. In addition, the client may participate in a program called "Dress for Success" to help acquire the clothes needed for the interview process.
EOS prepares people through intensive, hands on training in basic computer technology, and also provides the necessary tools for job placement. Students will acquire the knowledge necessary to work with Microsoft Office 2007, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Hotmail, and basic Internet navigation. Students must bring the following required documents to Orientation: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Photo ID, Proof of Income, and Proof of residency (must be Travis County resident or surrounding Austin City limits.)

Evening Essential Office Skills Computer Training Program
This offers those who work during the day the opportunity to enhance their computer skills to increase their marketability. The participants are trained and tested on the Microsoft Office 2007 products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Also offered is progressive evening computer training. This course is fast-paced to allow the client to complete intermediate level and advanced level courses.

GED Education
We provide open entry/open exit classes to assist customers with completing their high school education. Customers prepare to take the GED exam in the following areas of study: language arts; reading; writing; mathematics; science; social studies and essay.
