Mission
As a 501(c)3 the mission of the AAUL is to assist African Americans and all other under-served Austin area residents in the achievement of societal and economic equality by focusing on educational improvement, employment readiness, health and wellness, and the preservation of affordable housing. As one of over 100 affiliates within the National Urban League, the AAUL is one of the largest affiliates.
AAUL Beneficiaries
The AAUL’s primary beneficiaries are low-income residents of Austin and Travis County. Of all agency customers, 61.4% are African American, 27.9% are of Hispanic origin, 10.3% are Anglo, and 0.4% comprises other groups. Eighty-seven percent have annual household incomes at 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Central Texas will need more than 20,000 additional college graduates over the next decade, beyond current natural population growth rates, in order to remain competitive as an economic region. Further, those additional students must come from the very populations of communities of color that historically have not attended or persisted in college – that is, the primary clientele of the Urban League. With your generous donation we are poised to assist in higher education matriculation, as well as to enhance a host of other community empowerment thrusts, for which the Urban League Movement is well known: youth programming, adult skills development, emergency home repair, GED education, civil rights and matters of societal justice.

Platinum-Level Sponsorship
Underwriting Support: $25,000 - $50,000
- Sponsor receives prime association with bringing first-rate Speakers to the region, i.e., Vernon Jordan, Hugh Price, Michael Eric Dyson, Marc Morial, Marion Wright Edelman, Maya Angelou, “Magic” Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, John Jacobs, etc.
- Sponsor would be granted 1 to 2 Named Academic Scholarships each year through an established Urban League competition among eligible high school students;
